The NKyTribune is an online-only, nonprofit, nonpartisan public service news organization covering Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties and the broader Northern Kentucky region. It is a publication of the nonprofit Kentucky Center for Public Service Journalism.
The NKyTribune was founded in January 2015 by Judith Clabes, Gene Clabes and J. Michael Farrell, filling a void left by the closure of The Kentucky Post. The Kentucky Center for Public Service Journalism, the nonprofit publisher, was established in 2013 and received its IRS 501(c)(3) determination in May 2014. The center's mission also includes helping other Kentucky communities without reliable local news establish nonprofit, online outlets of their own. Co-founder Mike Farrell died August 28, 2019. The NKyTribune's first print edition was mailed to every household in Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties on October 1, 2019.
