Beginning as KAPS Co. Ltd founded in 1993, the company became, in 2001, News2u Holdings. Businesses within News2u Holdings are The Japan Times Ltd, the Japan Times Agency Ltd, The Japan Times Cube Inc, and the Japan Times Publishing Ltd.
The Japan Times, Ltd., a publicly traded subsidiary based in Tokyo publishes Japan’s oldest (founded in 1897) English-language daily broadsheet, The Japan Times. The newspaper, regarded as a dependable information source around the world, reported in 2017 having a staff of 130. Japan Times, Ltd. also publishes The Japan Times Weekend Edition and the Japan Times Alpha (designed for classroom study).
