Use of DataNew York Focus founded in 2020 it is the state’s only nonprofit statewide newsroom and member of the Institute for Nonprofit News. They specialize in investigating New York state’s power structure. They work to rebuild the local news ecosystem that has faced years of cuts. Because many of New York’s newspapers have closed in the last two decades, New York Focus reports on decisions made in Albany and how they impact the state. This news site feels that Albany, the state’s power center, does not receive enough close scrutiny.
