New Jersey Hills Media Group, formerly Recorder Community Newspapers, is a group of weekly newspapers covering Morris, Somerset, Hunterdon and Essex counties, New Jersey. It is owned by the nonprofit Corporation for New Jersey Local Media (CNJLM).
Founded in 1955 when Cortlandt and Nancy Parker launched the Morris Observer in Morris Township. The company expanded through decades of acquisitions and new launches, including the Bernardsville News and Mendham-Chester Tribune (1957), the Echoes-Sentinel (1959), the Hunterdon Review and Somerset Hills Exponent (1969), The Randolph Reporter (1978), the Mount Olive Chronicle (1979), the Roxbury Register (1988), the Eagle-Courier group of papers (1990) and the Morris NewsBee (1993), among others. Co-owners Steve and Elizabeth Parker transitioned the company, then the largest independent weekly newspaper group in New Jersey, to nonprofit ownership under CNJLM in 2022.
