The National Environment Agency (NEA) of Singapore provides real-time environmental data and application programming interfaces (APIs) through Singapore's open data platform, data.gov.sg. These APIs and datasets cover a wide range of environmental measurements collected by NEA's national monitoring network, including air quality, weather, and ultraviolet radiation data.
The NEA is Singapore's principal public organization responsible for environmental management, operating under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment. Its headquarters are located at 40 Scotts Road, Singapore. NEA manages national monitoring networks that collect environmental data in real time across the island.
NEA's environmental data resources available via APIs include real-time and near-real-time readings for air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, and rainfall at weather-station level (at intervals as short as one minute or five minutes). The agency also provides air quality data including the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) and PM2.5 particulate readings (updated every 15 minutes), UV index readings, and weather forecasts for 2-hour, 24-hour, and 4-day periods. Historical climate data is also available for download.
The NEA environmental APIs are freely accessible through Singapore's open data platform (data.gov.sg) under the Singapore Open Data Licence, free for personal and commercial use. Developers can register for higher rate limits and priority support. API specifications are downloadable from each dataset page. Data is updated continuously and is suitable for research, environmental monitoring applications, public health surveillance, and urban planning.
NEA's environmental data resources are widely used by researchers, developers, journalists, and government agencies. They represent Singapore's primary open-access environmental time-series archive, enabling analysis of long-term trends in air quality, weather, and climate conditions in a tropical urban environment.
