The National Tsing Hua University Institutional Repository (NTHU IR) is the open-access digital repository of National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Operating on DSpace software, the repository collects, preserves, and disseminates the scholarly output of the university's faculty, researchers, and students.
NTHU IR was established in January 2008 and registered with the international Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR) and OpenDOAR. It was created to support open access principles and to make the university's research output globally discoverable and freely accessible.
National Tsing Hua University itself has a distinguished history dating to 1911, when it was founded as Tsing Hua Imperial College in Beijing. It relocated to Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1956, where it developed into one of Taiwan's leading research universities in science, engineering, and technology.
The repository contains a broad range of research output across multiple disciplines including arts, engineering, health and medicine, humanities, mathematics, science, social sciences, and technology. Material types include journal articles, conference and workshop papers, theses and dissertations, reports and working papers, and learning objects. The parent library holds a print and electronic collection of over 2.1 million volumes.
NTHU IR is freely accessible online at ir.lib.nthu.edu.tw. The repository supports the OAI-PMH protocol for interoperability with other repositories and aggregators. Deposit policies are set by the university, and researchers are encouraged to self-archive their publications.
