It aims to preserve local news sources and maintain their independence from out-of-state corporate interests by converting them into sustainable non-profits. According to its website, NTLN is “the only non-profit organization that conserves existing community news titles.” NTLN is committed to editorial independence for its papers, with all editorial decisions being entrusted to local staff.
