Use of DataNAUKA (meaning 'science' in Ukrainian) is Ukraine's National Electronic Research Information System—an integrated digital platform designed to collect, structure, store, and provide access to scientific and scientific-technical information produced by Ukrainian research institutions, universities, and individual researchers. The system is implemented by the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine under orders of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
Development of the system was initiated following a decision by the Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on February 13, 2020, which established the National Electronic Scientific Information System under the name URIS (Ukrainian Research Information System). The system's regulatory framework was formalized through a Cabinet of Ministers resolution (No. 1067) adopted on September 27, 2022, approving provisions for the National Electronic Research Information System. Operational procedures were established by order of the Ministry of Education and Science dated January 8, 2024 (No. 10), registered with the Ministry of Justice on March 5, 2024.
NAUKA functions as an integrated software and hardware platform with a central database and functional modules automating processes across the research sector. The system encompasses institutional profiles for scientific organizations and universities, researcher profiles with structured biographical and publication data, a Ukrainian National Repository of academic texts, a register of non-secret defended dissertations, a register of non-secret technologies, and a publications registry. It interacts with external bibliographic databases including Crossref.
The service is free and accessible to all without registration for basic searches. Users can filter by scientific field, institution, researcher, and other parameters, and can export results in Excel and CSV formats. The platform also integrates with international registries and databases as part of Ukraine's Open Science commitments and European Research Area integration efforts.
