The National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations in Taiwan (NDLTD Taiwan) is an online repository administered by the National Central Library (NCL) of Taiwan, providing comprehensive bibliographic and full-text access to doctoral dissertations and master's theses produced at universities in Taiwan. It constitutes one of the most complete national ETD (Electronic Theses and Dissertations) collections in Asia.

History and Background

The repository builds upon a long tradition of dissertation cataloguing at the National Central Library. The NCL has compiled a union catalog of Korean and Taiwanese dissertations since the library's early decades. As of recent counts, the digital library contains over 1.9 million dissertations and theses, searchable by title, author, university name, keywords, and table of contents. The transition to an online and digital format was a priority for the NCL as it modernized its infrastructure from the 1990s onward.

Collections and Holdings

NDLTD Taiwan catalogs theses and dissertations from accredited universities across Taiwan, spanning all academic disciplines. Many records include full-text access to the thesis documents, freely available for non-commercial research purposes. Where copyright is held, users may access documents through a three-way license agreement between the user's institution, the NCL as content supplier, and the Korea Reproduction and Transmission Rights Association or equivalent copyright broker.
