Overview

The National Cheng Kung University Institutional Repository (NCKU IR; Chinese: 國立成功大學機構典藏) is the open-access digital repository of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), one of Taiwan's leading public research universities located in Tainan. The repository collects, preserves, and provides access to the scholarly output of NCKU's faculty, researchers, and students, running on the DSpace platform.

Institutional Background

National Cheng Kung University was originally established in January 1931 under Japanese colonial rule as the Tainan Technical College. After Taiwan's return to the Republic of China in 1945, the institution was progressively upgraded, becoming a provincial university in 1956 and a full national university in 1971. Today NCKU is organized into nine colleges encompassing 70 departments and 29 research institutes, with more than 21,000 students. It is consistently ranked among Taiwan's top research universities and is the only Taiwanese member of the Worldwide Universities Network.

Collections and Holdings

NCKU IR holds theses, dissertations, journal articles, conference papers, and other scholarly works produced at NCKU across disciplines including arts, engineering, health and medicine, humanities, mathematics, science, social sciences, and technology. The repository was first registered in international directories in 2008 and has grown steadily since. Submissions span the full range of NCKU's research specializations, with particular strength in engineering, science, and medicine.
