Montclair Local is a nonprofit news organization serving Montclair, New Jersey, covering local government, schools, business, food, arts, culture and community life.

History

Montclair Local was founded in 2017 with the mission to "spark dialogue, objectively inform and build community in Montclair," and became a nonprofit organization in 2020. In spring 2023, Montclair Local's board of trustees announced a merger with Baristanet, the area's longtime for-profit digital news outlet founded in 2004; the combined organization remained a nonprofit under the Montclair Local name, with Baristanet co-founder Liz George becoming publisher and chief executive of the merged newsroom.
