Monadnock Ledger-Transcript is a newspaper covering the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire from its base in Peterborough, publishing print editions two days a week alongside a continuously updated website. It is owned by Newspapers of New England, Inc.
Formed in September 2006 when the 50-year-old Monadnock Ledger purchased the 150-year-old Peterborough Transcript. The Transcript was founded in 1849 as the Contoocook Transcript by John Miller and Kendall Scott and remained in the Cummings family from 1900 to 2006. The Ledger began in the mid-1950s as a newsletter for New Hampshire Ball Bearings, converted by Richard Noyes into a tabloid weekly based in Jaffrey and then a twice-weekly newspaper. Turley Communications bought the Ledger from Noyes in 1973, and Edward R. "Ted" Leach purchased it in 1979.
Named Newspaper of the Year by the New England Press Association in 2010.
