Use of DataThe Matenadaran Main Catalogue of Armenian Manuscripts, known in Armenian as the Mayr Tsutsak (Grand Catalogue), is the principal scholarly catalogue of the manuscript holdings at the Matenadaran — Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan, Armenia. It represents the systematic descriptive cataloguing project that has been at the core of the Matenadaran's scholarly mission since its establishment as a research institute in 1959.
The Mayr Tsutsak provides full scholarly descriptions of the Matenadaran's Armenian manuscript collection, which contains approximately 14,800 Armenian manuscripts among a total collection of over 20,000 manuscripts in various languages. The primary catalogue of Armenian manuscripts was compiled by O. Eganyan, A. Zeytunyan, and P. Ant'abyan, published in two volumes in Yerevan in 1965–1970. Ongoing cataloguing work continues to update records and integrate newly acquired materials. Additional specialised catalogues have been published for non-Armenian holdings, including catalogues of Quranic manuscripts, Persian manuscript fragments, and Greek manuscripts.
The Matenadaran's Grand Catalogue and related manuscript descriptions are accessible through the institution's digital resources portal at the Matenadaran website. Researchers can search manuscript records online and consult physical manuscripts at the Matenadaran's reading rooms in Yerevan.
