Mark Katches is an American journalist. Currently executive editor and vice president of the Tampa Bay Times, Katches previously served as editor of the Center for Investigative Reporting and editor of the Oregonian. He also built investigative reporting teams at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Orange County Register.
Mr. Katches attended San Jose State University where he earned a BA in journalism. He has taught journalism as an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California, University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism, and Stanford University. He completed the year-long Punch Sulzberger executive leadership program in 2013 at Columbia University.
Mark served on the board of directors of the nonprofit Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc., where he oversaw the organization’s mentorship program. He currently serves on the advisory board of the University of Tampa journalism school and is a board member of the Florida Society of News Editors.
