Use of DataAndy Mannix is responsible for reporting on criminal justice and government accountability at the Star Tribune. Since his arrival at the publication in 2016, Mr. Mannix has focused on Minnesota's judicial system and law enforcement across state, local, and federal jurisdictions, as well as issues pertaining to Minneapolis City Hall and criminal justice policy. In 2020, he contributed to the coverage of George Floyd's death and its repercussions, a project that earned the Star Tribune both the George Polk Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Additionally, he serves as an instructor at the University of Minnesota's journalism school, from which he graduated. Mr. Mannix holds a master's degree from the University of California-Berkeley, specializing in data-driven journalism. Before his tenure at the Minnesota Star Tribune, he reported on a diverse range of subjects, including crime, recreational marijuana, and politics, for various outlets such as The Seattle Times, MinnPost, City Pages, and The Minnesota Daily.
