Use of DataThe Malek National Library and Museum Online Collection is the digital access portal of the Malek National Library and Museum Institution (MNLMI) in Tehran, Iran. It provides online access to selected digitized items from the museum's and library's holdings, including photographs, maps, manuscripts, historical documents, and artworks. The online collection serves researchers, students, and the general public who are unable to visit the physical institution in Tehran.
The parent institution, the Malek National Library and Museum, was founded by Haj Hossein Aqa Malek (1871–1972), one of the wealthiest men in Iran at the time. Malek began collecting manuscripts and printed books in 1908 in Mashhad. He later transferred his library to his residence near the Tehran Grand Bazaar and donated the entire collection to Astan-e Qods-e Razavi (the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza) in 1937. A new building in Tehran's National Garden (Bagh-e Melli) was constructed between 1985 and 1996, to which the library and museum relocated permanently in 1996.
