LJI and the Solutions Journalism Network have been working with more than 25 partners throughout the state – including dozens of newspapers, radio and TV stations, and online-only news resources, plus our libraries and universities – to create the DJC.
DCF Journalism Internship Program
LJI is working to increase coverage of underrepresented communities in Delaware and build a pipeline of aspiring local journalists, particularly those who are passionate about and experienced with BIPOC (Black, indigenous and people of color) and other underrepresented communities.
The DCF Journalism Internship Program is a partnership of the Local Journalism Initiative, the Delaware Community Foundation and the Maryland Delaware DC Press Association. Launched in the summer of 2021 with a grant from the DCF’s COVID-19 Strategic Response Fund, the internship program was Delaware’s first statewide news collaborative initiative.
The Local Journalism Initiative of Delaware
The Local Journalism Initiative of Delaware (LJI) today released Delaware’s Local News & Information Ecosystem Assessment: Key Findings and Opportunities, a report on its comprehensive, community-centered research project that explores how Delaware residents consume local news and information, analyzes gaps in coverage, and provides a set of recommendations for how the community can work together to improve access to high-quality local news and information for everyone.
