Software Development Engineer, Newsjunkie.net
Simon Landau is Newsjunkie.net’s software development engineer. Born in Manhattan and raised in Highland Park and Glendale, Los Angeles, Simon pursued his passion for both the arts and technology. After attending Renaissance Arts Academy with a focus on double bass, he earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, with an emphasis on web applications design and engineering. In 2020, Simon won the youth prize in the Powered by Sefaria Contest for co-developing Mizmor Shir, a website that converts chapters of Hebrew from the Torah into music based on user preferences.
Simon joined Newsjunkie.net as a software development engineer intern in March 2024, after connecting with Founder, Gordon Whiting, through The Orange Grove Quaker Group. His role is to create building front-end user interfaces and design back-end database architectures. He collaborated with CTO Aaren to develop one of the most notable features of our website- our filter search feature, which allows users to perform granular searches within our news ecosystem data.
Beyond his work at Newsjunkie, Simon is passionate about rock climbing and is developing a website to track the types of climbing shoes worn by pro climbers. You can check out his climbing skills here.
