KoreaScience is an open-access platform for Korean scholarly publications in science and technology, developed and managed by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) since 1997. It functions as a reference-linking and full-text delivery service, providing access to over 1.7 million articles across natural sciences, life sciences, engineering, humanities, and social sciences.
KISTI launched KoreaScience in 1997 as part of its mandate to promote the dissemination of Korean research. In 2008, an English-language interface was introduced to enable international researchers to access the full text of Korean science and technology journals. KISTI became the 10th DOI Registration Agency in the world in 2016, establishing the Korea DOI Centre, which allows it to assign and register DOIs to Korean journal articles independently.
The platform aggregates content from KISTI's OCEAN system, which collects and processes scholarly materials submitted by Korean learned societies. Holdings include journal articles in XML and PDF formats, spanning a broad range of academic disciplines. KoreaScience also participates in the Open Access Korea (OAK) alliance and the OA2020 global initiative, reflecting a commitment to open access principles.
KoreaScience is freely accessible online. Users can browse journals by field, search articles by keyword, and access full-text content. Registration is required for some services. The platform is available in Korean and English.
