Kevin Stoker is professor and director of the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, a position he has held since July 2017. He earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in mass communication from the University of Alabama and a B.A. from Brigham Young University. Before UNLV, he served as senior associate dean of the College of Media and Communication at Texas Tech University, associate chair of graduate studies in the Department of Communications at Brigham Young University, and held academic appointments at Georgia Southern University and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. His professional journalism background includes work as a sports editor at the Clinton Daily News in Oklahoma and as a reporter covering the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the Deseret News, along with freelance writing for business publications in Utah, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina. His research focuses on media ethics, the evolution of journalism and public relations, and he has headed the media ethics division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
