The Kenya National Data Archive (KeNADA) is an online microdata catalog maintained by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). It provides structured public access to datasets from national surveys, censuses, and administrative records covering economic, social, and demographic topics.
KNBS was founded in 2006 with a mandate to collect, analyse, and disseminate official statistics. KeNADA was developed with support from the International Household Survey Network (IHSN) and the African Development Bank's Africa Development Portal (ADP) programme. Kenya began participating in ADP activities in 2007, and the archive has grown to include more than 41 documented surveys. A major capacity-building workshop using Nesstar Publisher software was held in Nairobi in 2014 to expand the catalog.
KeNADA hosts microdata from Kenya's major household surveys, including the Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey, demographic and health surveys, agricultural surveys, and innovation and enterprise surveys. Datasets may be accessed as public use files, licensed files, or on-site only, depending on confidentiality classifications. Metadata follows international Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) standards.
KeNADA is freely accessible online at statistics.knbs.or.ke/nada. Researchers seeking licensed or restricted datasets must submit formal data access requests subject to KNBS review. The portal is powered by NADA (National Data Archive) software developed by the IHSN.
