The Kenya Data Portal (kenya.opendataforafrica.org) is an online open data platform providing access to economic, social, demographic, and sectoral statistical data for Kenya. It is hosted on the Open Data for Africa platform, which aggregates statistical data for African countries and is associated with the African Development Bank Group's data infrastructure.
Kenya has been a pioneer in open data on the African continent. In July 2011, Kenya launched the Kenya Open Data Initiative (KODI), becoming the first country in sub-Saharan Africa and the second on the continent (after Morocco) to launch an open government data portal. The Open Data for Africa platform provides an aggregated, curated interface for Kenya's statistical datasets, supplementing the government's own data resources with user-friendly visualization and download tools.
The Kenya Data Portal hosts a broad range of datasets covering population, labor, health, education, agriculture, trade, finance, environment, and governance. The platform provides time-series data, downloadable tables, and visualization tools. It draws on data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, government ministries, and international organizations. Data from the platform are available for download in standard formats.
The portal is freely accessible online. Users may browse by topic, search by keyword, or download datasets directly. Visualization tools allow data to be displayed graphically. Per the platform's terms, content is intended for personal, non-commercial use.
