Kansas State University is a public land-grant research university in Manhattan, Kansas.
Journalism at Kansas State is housed in the A.Q. Miller School of Media and Communication, formerly the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications. In 2022 the school merged with the Department of Communication Studies and adopted its current name. It remains accredited by ACEJMC, most recently reaccredited in 2020, offering degrees in News & Sports Media and Advertising & Public Relations.
Kansas State was founded on February 16, 1863, as Kansas State Agricultural College, when the state accepted Manhattan's offer to donate the buildings and grounds of the private Blue Mont Central College. It was the first operational college established under the 1862 Morrill Act and was renamed Kansas State University in 1959.
