Alexandria, Louisiana, USA
KALB-TV (channel 5) is a television station in Alexandria, Louisiana, affiliated with NBC, CBS (on a digital subchannel) and The CW Plus. It is owned by Gray Media, with studios on Washington Street in downtown Alexandria.
KALB began broadcasting September 29, 1954, with NBC's airing of the World Series, and has held an NBC affiliation continuously since. Original owners were W.H. Allen and Shreveport businessman T.B. Lanford, who bought out Allen's stake in 1957 and owned the station through his company, Red River Valley Broadcasting. KALB was Central Louisiana's only commercial television station until KLAX-TV signed on in 1983. The station launched a CBS affiliate on a second digital subchannel in January 2007, branded CBS 2, giving Central Louisiana full Big Four network service for the first time. Hoak Media announced the sale of most of its stations, including KALB, to Gray Television on November 20, 2013, with the sale completing June 13, 2014.
