Jennifer D. Greer is dean of the University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information, which houses the Department of Communication, the School of Journalism and Media, the Department of Integrated Strategic Communication, the School of Information Science, and the Graduate Program in Communication. She joined UK in August 2019, succeeding interim dean Derek Lane, after 19 years in academic administration at the University of Alabama and the University of Nevada, Reno, including roles as associate provost, interim dean, department chair, acting dean, graduate director, and academic chair. Before entering academia, Greer worked as a reporter for The Kansas City Star, an editor for the Gainesville Sun, and a contributing writer for the Reno Gazette-Journal. She holds a doctorate from the University of Florida, a master's degree from the University of Kansas, and two bachelor's degrees from the University of Missouri. Greer served as president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) in 2017-2018 and is a member of the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.
