JAXA Digital Archives is the online image and media archive of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Japan's national space and aeronautics agency. The archive provides public access to photographs, videos, and other digital materials from JAXA's research, missions, and activities, available at jda.jaxa.jp.
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) was established on 1 October 2003 through the merger of three previously independent organizations: the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS), the National Aerospace Laboratory of Japan (NAL), and the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA). JAXA is responsible for Japan's aerospace research, satellite development, rocket launches, and space exploration missions, including the Hayabusa asteroid sample return missions and contributions to the International Space Station. Its headquarters are in Chōfu, Tokyo.
The JAXA Digital Archives offers a large collection of images and videos from the agency's missions and research activities, including satellite imagery, launch photographs, images from the International Space Station, materials from planetary exploration missions, and aeronautical research documentation. Users may access and use materials for non-commercial educational and informational purposes, provided they credit JAXA as the source.
The archive is freely accessible online. Materials may be used for educational, journalistic, and research purposes with proper attribution. JAXA specifies that use for purposes that could misrepresent its activities or that are contrary to public order is not permitted.
