History and Background

IPB University (Institut Pertanian Bogor), formerly known as Bogor Agricultural University, is Indonesia's leading agricultural university, founded on September 1, 1963, by decree of the Minister of Higher Education and Science. Its roots extend to agricultural higher education established in Bogor during the Dutch colonial period in the early 20th century, with the institution later forming part of the University of Indonesia before becoming independent. IPB is consistently ranked among Indonesia's top universities and is internationally recognized for research in tropical agriculture and life sciences. It is headquartered in Bogor, West Java, approximately 60 km from Jakarta.
