The University of Iowa is a public research university in Iowa City, Iowa.
Journalism at the University of Iowa is housed in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC), part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Established in 1924, the school offers a BA in journalism and mass communication and is accredited by ACEJMC. Its facilities include the Philip D. Adler Journalism and Mass Communication Building, home to the student newspaper The Daily Iowan.
The University of Iowa was founded on February 25, 1847, just 59 days after Iowa was admitted to the Union, making it the state's oldest public university.
