Use of DataThe Ina-Geoportal, also known as TanahAir, is Indonesia's national geospatial data portal, managed by the Geospatial Information Agency (Badan Informasi Geospasial, or BIG), headquartered in Cibinong, West Java. The portal provides public access to official geographic and spatial datasets for the Indonesian archipelago, supporting government planning, environmental management, infrastructure development, and academic research.
BIG was established under Presidential Regulation No. 94 of 2011, which designated it as the authority for national geospatial information in Indonesia. The portal was developed to fulfill Indonesia's commitment to a One Map Policy (Kebijakan Satu Peta), consolidating geospatial data from across government agencies into a unified platform. The name TanahAir — meaning homeland in Indonesian — reflects the portal's role as the definitive spatial reference for the country.
The portal aggregates topographic maps, satellite imagery, administrative boundary data, land-use classifications, bathymetric data, and thematic spatial layers produced by BIG and partner ministries. Users can browse, visualize, and download datasets in standard GIS formats. The portal supports open access for non-commercial purposes and is interoperable with international spatial data infrastructure standards.
The portal is freely accessible online at tanahair.indonesia.go.id. Users can search and preview datasets through an interactive map interface and download files subject to BIG's data use terms. Government users and researchers requiring large-volume or classified datasets may contact BIG directly.
