The department offers a three-year B.A. in Communications, with single or dual major and honors-program options; an M.A. in Communications of one and a half to two years, with a research track including a thesis or a non-research track across four streams (Internet and New Media; Political Communication and Psychological Processes in the Digital Era; Digital Screens: Media, Culture and Cinema; and Multidisciplinary Communication Studies); and doctoral studies. Programs are taught primarily in Hebrew.
The department is Israel's oldest and largest center of communication scholarship, ranked first among Israeli communication departments and 14th in the world according to the 2024 Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Graduates go on to careers in journalism, radio, television, film, digital media, advertising, marketing, and public relations, as well as academic research.
The department, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, was named in 1991 in honor of Noah Mozes, the longtime publisher and managing editor of the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, in a ceremony addressed by Israeli President Chaim Herzog.
Paul Frosh: Full professor who served as Head of Department from 2019 to 2023; his research spans visual culture, photography theory, and digital media aesthetics.
Menahem Blondheim: Professor with a joint appointment in History and Communication and Journalism, and a former chair of the department.
