The Hacettepe University Institutional Repository (Hacettepe Üniversitesi Açık Erişim Sistemi, HÜAES) is the official open-access institutional repository of Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey. Built on the DSpace platform, it serves as the university's primary digital archive for scholarly output, providing open access to a growing collection of research materials produced by Hacettepe's academic community.
The repository was formally established in January 2019, when it was registered with the Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR). Its origins trace back to earlier open-access efforts at Hacettepe, including the Hacettepe University Electronic Theses Project, which digitized graduate theses from the institution. Hacettepe's Department of Information Management has been a longstanding leader in open access advocacy and institutional repository development in Turkey.
The repository holds peer-reviewed journal articles, technical reports, working papers, theses, dissertations, and other research outputs. Collections are organized by faculty and institute, encompassing the university's full academic range: Ankara State Conservatory, faculties of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Letters, Education, Science, Engineering, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Medicine, and more. The interface is available in both Turkish and English and is OAI-PMH compliant for international metadata harvesting.
All materials in the repository are openly accessible at openaccess.hacettepe.edu.tr. The repository is registered with OpenDOAR and indexed in the OpenAIRE infrastructure. Hacettepe University, founded in 1967 in Ankara, is one of Turkey's leading research universities, with approximately 1,887 academic staff.
