Gulf Times is an English-language daily newspaper published in Doha, Qatar, by the Gulf Publishing and Printing Company (GPPC). It is one of Qatar's three leading English-language dailies, alongside The Peninsula and Qatar Tribune.
Gulf Publishing & Printing Company (WLL) was formed by a group of founding members at an assembly on Jan. 19, 1978, and received its legal license Aug. 5, 1978. Gulf Times' first edition, a weekly, was published Dec. 10, 1978; it converted to a daily on Feb. 22, 1981. Its Arabic-language sister paper, Arrayah (Al Raya), launched May 10, 1979. Gulf Times is owned through GPPC by Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, a former deputy prime minister of Qatar and former head of the Emir's royal court.
The longest continuously published English-language daily newspaper in Qatar, maintaining dedicated editorial, analysis, economy, sports and archives desks.
