Linda M. Griego is president and chief executive officer of Griego Enterprises, Inc., a Los Angeles business management company she has led since 1986, through which she developed and operated the restaurant Engine Co. No. 28 in a renovated 1912 firehouse for more than 20 years. She holds a B.A. in history from UCLA, where she graduated in 1975, and began her career as a congressional staffer for U.S. Senator Alan Cranston of California and Congressman Tom Morris of New Mexico. From 1990 to 2000 she held a series of Los Angeles government appointments, including deputy mayor for economic development under Mayor Tom Bradley, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Community Development Bank, and president and CEO of Rebuild LA, the agency formed to coordinate economic recovery following the 1992 Los Angeles civil unrest. She ran for mayor of Los Angeles in 1993. Griego has served as a Los Angeles director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and on the boards of directors of CBS Corporation/ViacomCBS/Paramount Global, American Funds/Capital Group, AECOM, Granite Construction, Southwest Water Company, City National Bank, and First Interstate Bank. She founded and chairs the MLK Health and Wellness Community Development Corporation and is a trustee of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. In 2008 she received the UCLA Medal, the university's highest honor.
