Greene Prairie Press is a weekly print and digital community newspaper covering Greene County, Illinois (Carrollton, White Hall and surrounding communities), published by Better Newspapers, Inc. as part of the River County News group.
Long published as an independent Greene County weekly, formerly under Campbell Publications. It was acquired, along with the Calhoun News-Herald, Pike Press, Scott County Times and Jersey County Journal, by Mascoutah-based Better Newspapers, Inc., which was founded in 1991 by Greg Hoskins. Greg Hoskins died in 2024; his son Scott Hoskins has since become president of the company. As of April 2026, Better Newspapers, Inc. announced it is consolidating all five weekly titles, including Greene Prairie Press, into a single combined weekly newspaper under the River County News masthead, while continuing county-by-county coverage.
