It was founded in 1897 by James Harrison Gray Sr. The company operates as a for-profit, publicly traded entity listed on the NYSE, with 71% of its outstanding stock owned by institutional investors. Gray Media owns local television stations and digital assets serving approximately 113 television markets in the U.S., including 77 markets with TV stations and 100 markets with digital assets. It also owns the Telemundo Affiliate group, reaching nearly 1.5 million Hispanic TV households across 43 markets. Additionally, Gray Media owns Gray Digital Media, a digital marketing agency, and media properties such as Raycom Sports, Tupelo Media Group, PowerNation Studios, Assembly Atlanta, and Third Rail Studios.
