Michael Goldbloom, C.M., born in 1953, is chairperson of the board of directors of CBC/Radio-Canada, first appointed to the role on April 3, 2018, and reappointed in December 2022 for a term ending December 14, 2027. He began his career as an editorial writer at The Montreal Gazette in 1980, then practiced as a labour lawyer at Martineau Walker (now Fasken) from 1981 to 1991. He served as president and CEO of the YMCA de Montréal from 1991 to 1994, then returned to The Gazette as its publisher from 1994 to 2001, and later served as publisher of the Toronto Star from 2004 to 2006. He worked in government and inter-institutional relations at McGill University in 2007 before becoming principal and vice-chancellor of Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec, in August 2008, a role he held until June 2023. Goldbloom holds a B.A. in modern European history and literature from Harvard University and a bachelor of civil law and a bachelor of laws from McGill University. In 2013, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada, and in June 2026 he was inducted as a Knight of the National Order of Quebec.
