The Glasgow Times is a daily tabloid newspaper published Monday to Saturday in Glasgow, Scotland, serving as the evening sister paper of The Herald. It is part of the Herald & Times Group, owned by Newsquest, a subsidiary of the American media company USA Today Co.
The paper was established in 1876 as the Evening Times, an evening sister publication to The Herald. Its editorial and printing operations moved in 1868 to a building on Mitchell Street designed by architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a structure that is now home to The Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Architecture, Design and the City. On December 4, 2019, the paper dropped "Evening" from its name and was relaunched as the Glasgow Times, under the slogan "Nobody Knows Our City Better."
Like The Herald, the paper came under Gannett (USA Today Co)/Newsquest ownership as part of the 2003 acquisition of the Scottish Media Group's newspaper publishing assets. Stacey Mullen was named editor of the Glasgow Times in December 2022, having previously served as the paper's assistant editor and, before that, as its crime reporter for several years; she reports to Callum Baird, editor-in-chief of Newsquest Scotland.
Dec. 4, 2019. The paper's rebrand from the Evening Times to the Glasgow Times was reported as part of a wider relaunch, with the publisher describing the change as reflecting a shift toward all-day, digital-first publication rather than a single evening print edition.
2022–present. Editor Stacey Mullen, a self-described "proud Glaswegian," has led the paper's coverage since December 2022 after more than 15 years as a local, regional and national newspaper journalist, including as the title's crime reporter.
