Damon Gitelman is a staff writer at Newsjunkie, where he contributes to research projects and covers developments in global journalism and its evolving landscape. Originally from Dallas and raised in Abilene, Texas, Damon graduated from college in San Antonio. He spent three years as a reporter and editor for The Abilene Reporter-News before earning his M.A. in philosophy from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Calgary. He also taught philosophy and English literature at Eastern Mediterranean University for 2 years.
A long-time friend of founder, Gordon Whiting, Damon joined Newsjunkie in August 2023.
Notably, Damon was selected to write the first official publicity for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. His 16-page article was distributed in 4.2 million Utah yellow page directories, published by the US West Dex. Additionally, Damon operates as the webmaster and editorial consultant for www.terrysouthern.com.
