GISTDA Data Cube is an online geospatial data platform operated by the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), Thailand's national space agency. It provides access to Earth observation datasets using the Open Data Cube (ODC) and SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog (STAC) frameworks, enabling analysis-ready satellite data for scientific and governmental users.
GISTDA was established on 3 November 2000 as a public organization under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, consolidating the former Thailand Remote Sensing Center (established 1979) and the GIS Coordination and Promotion Section. Thailand's involvement in satellite remote sensing dates to 1971 through participation in NASA's ERTS-1 programme. The Data Cube platform was developed as part of GISTDA's mandate to provide satellite data services and build national geospatial infrastructure.
The GISTDA Data Cube hosts analysis-ready Earth observation data derived from domestic and international satellite missions, including imagery from the THEOS (launched 2008) and THEOS-2 (launched 2023) satellites. Datasets support applications in agriculture, water management, disaster management, urban planning, and natural resource monitoring across Thailand and the wider region.
The platform is accessible online at datacube.gistda.or.th. It is built on open international standards (ODC/STAC), allowing programmatic access and integration with standard geospatial analysis tools. The platform supports both government agencies and researchers.
