GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group, Inc.) - Global Information Services and Expert Network Company
Gerson Lehrman Group, Inc. (GLG) is a financial and global information services company headquartered in New York City, now operating as the world's largest expert network. It was founded in 1998 by Yale Law School graduates Mark Gerson and Thomas Lehrman as a publishing house producing sector-specific industry guidebooks for institutional investors. In 1999, after discovering that clients preferred direct conversations with experts over formal written reports, the founders pivoted the business toward connecting clients with a network of paid subject-matter consultants, abandoning the original publishing model. Alexander Saint-Amand, a former Bloomberg reporter, joined shortly after founding and served as president and CEO until 2018, when Paul Todd succeeded him. GLG's network today includes more than 1 million experts spanning finance, consulting, healthcare, technology, law, and government, connecting them with clients including hedge funds, private equity firms, strategy consultancies, and nonprofit organizations. The company has been backed by private equity firms including Silver Lake Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, and SFW Capital Partners; it filed for an initial public offering in October 2021 but withdrew the filing in March 2022.
