Fox News (Fox News Channel) is an American cable news and political commentary television channel owned by Fox Corporation. It anchors FOX News Media, which also includes the Fox Business Network, Fox News Digital, Fox News Audio, Fox News Books, Fox Nation, Fox News International and Fox Weather. It is headquartered in New York City.

History

Launched Oct. 7, 1996, by Rupert Murdoch through News Corporation, with Roger Ailes as founding CEO; it reached about 17 million cable households at launch and was initially absent from the New York and Los Angeles markets. It grew to become the top-rated cable news network for more than two decades. Fox's news, sports and entertainment assets, including Fox News, were spun off into the standalone Fox Corporation on March 19, 2019, ahead of the Walt Disney Company's acquisition of the rest of 21st Century Fox. Ailes resigned in July 2016 amid sexual harassment allegations; after a period with Rupert Murdoch as acting CEO, Suzanne Scott was named CEO of Fox News Media in May 2018, its first female chief executive.
