Use of DataFox 32 Chicago (Station ID letters WFLD) is a broadcast television news station in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1966 as an independent station, with majority share ownership by Field Enterprises (Marshall Field department store heirs) running the station. Over the decades, it changed hands a few times, but remained independent, broadcasting syndicated shows along with reruns of older sitcoms. After acquiring Twentieth Century Fox, News Corp also bought WFLD in 1986 with the intention of creating a new network The Fox Broadcasting company. Currently, the owner is listed as Fox Television Stations LLC.
