Zac Farber is editor-in-chief of Berkeleyside, a nonprofit news site in Berkeley, California, operated by Cityside Journalism Initiative. He was named to the role in April 2025 after four years as the outlet's managing editor. Before joining Berkeleyside in April 2021, Farber was editor of the Southwest Journal, a 30,000-circulation biweekly community newspaper serving 21 Minneapolis neighborhoods, where he led coverage of the killing of George Floyd and launched a special reporting project tracking the pandemic's toll on the community; the paper's staff won eight Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists Page One awards in 2020, more than any other non-daily newspaper in the state. He has also worked as web editor of the Finance & Commerce and Minnesota Lawyer newspapers, a web producer at WCCO-TV, and a local editor for Twin Cities Patch sites. He was editor of The Mac Weekly, the student newspaper of Macalester College in St. Paul.
