The Faculty of Nursing and Public Health (FNPH) Library is the central library of the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), located in Thimphu. FNPH itself traces its origins to 1974, when it was established as the Health School. It was upgraded and renamed the Royal Institute of Health Sciences (RIHS) in 1989, became a founding member college of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) in 2003, and was renamed the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health in 2013 upon the establishment of KGUMSB. The library catalog was made available online via the Koha Integrated Library System, providing an open access public catalog (OPAC) that allows users across Bhutan to search the library's holdings remotely.
The FNPH Library is recognized as the apex health and medical sciences library of Bhutan, serving the information needs of KGUMSB faculty, students, postgraduate residency programs, staff of Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital, the Ministry of Health, and health researchers nationwide. The collection encompasses medical and nursing textbooks, public health literature, clinical reference materials, Bhutanese health policy documents, research publications, and unique materials such as the Medical History of Bhutan. The library uses the Dewey Decimal Classification system for collection organization.
The library catalog is accessible online at library.fnph.edu.bt, allowing users to search holdings, view item availability, and access bibliographic records. Physical access to the library and its collections is available at the FNPH campus in Thimphu. The library provides both traditional and modern library and information services, including access to online databases and electronic journals to support the university's teaching, learning, and research activities.
