The Evanston RoundTable is a nonprofit news organization serving Evanston, Illinois, covering local government, schools, arts and culture, and community issues.
The RoundTable was founded in 1998, initially publishing a free, every-other-week newspaper, and moved online in 2008. On April 15, 2020, it was incorporated as an Illinois nonprofit corporation, Evanston RoundTable Media NFP, and received 501(c)(3) status from the IRS in January 2021, absorbing operations previously run as Evanston RoundTable LLC. The organization celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023.
The RoundTable won the 2020 Peter Lisagor Award for Best Neighborhood/Community News from the Chicago Headline Club and Society of Professional Journalists, and won 32 awards, including 12 first-place honors, at the 2024 Northern Illinois News Association competition, among them best watchdog reporting and general excellence for best website.
