History and Founding

The Electronic Scientific Archive (ENA) of Lviv Polytechnic National University was established in 2009 and is managed by the Scientific-Technical Library of Lviv Polytechnic National University. It runs on the DSpace platform and was registered in the Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR) with a birth date of 24 November 2009. Lviv Polytechnic National University itself, founded in 1816, is the oldest technical higher educational institution in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, with a history spanning the Austrian Empire, the Polish Second Republic, the Soviet Union, and independent Ukraine.

Collections and Holdings

ENA serves as the institutional open-access digital archive for the research and scholarly output of Lviv Polytechnic National University's academic community. The collection covers multiple fields of scientific and technical activity, with technical sciences comprising the majority (approximately 69%) of deposits. Holdings include journal articles, conference proceedings, monographs, and other academic publications produced by the university's faculties, research institutes, and associated organisations. Since its creation in 2010, the repository has attracted visitors from more than 53 countries. The archive includes a community for open scientific publishing of journals and conference proceedings published at Lviv Polytechnic.

Access and Usage

ENA is freely accessible online and supports OAI-PMH harvesting. The repository is available at ena.lpnu.ua and adheres to open access principles, making the university's intellectual output discoverable internationally. The Scientific-Technical Library of Lviv Polytechnic provides the institutional infrastructure for the archive's management and development.
