The DTU Historical Collection (Danmarks Tekniske Kulturarv) is a digitized heritage collection maintained by DTU Library at the Technical University of Denmark. DTU was founded in 1829 by physicist Hans Christian Ørsted as Denmark's first polytechnic institution. The DTU Library has preserved historical materials related to the university's nearly two-century history, and an online searchable interface was developed to provide public access to these digitized materials.
The DTU Historical Collection presents digitized books from the DTU Library's collection published before 1920, along with hundreds of high-resolution photographs, including materials from the major industrial exhibition held in Copenhagen in 1888. The collection documents the history of Danish technical education and the development of engineering and applied sciences in Denmark from the nineteenth century onward.
The historical collection includes documentary materials and publications that illuminate the history of Danish science communication, technical publishing, and industrial exhibition reporting from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The online search interface is freely accessible at historie.dtu.dk and allows users to browse and search the digitized collection. Physical archival and heritage materials are maintained by DTU Library at Kongens Lyngby.
