DTU Data is the institutional research data repository of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), launched in 2019 on the Figshare platform. It was developed to meet growing requirements from research funders and journals for open, FAIR-compliant data sharing. In 2023, DTU Data achieved CoreTrustSeal certification, an internationally recognized standard for trustworthy digital repositories. DTU itself was founded in 1829 by physicist Hans Christian Ørsted as Denmark's first polytechnic institution, making it one of Europe's oldest and most distinguished engineering universities.
DTU Data hosts approximately 1,300 datasets from researchers across DTU's many departments and research centers, covering engineering sciences, natural sciences, life sciences, and the humanities and social sciences. Datasets are assigned persistent identifiers and rich metadata, supporting long-term discoverability and reuse. The repository supports open, restricted, and embargoed access modes and accommodates multiple data formats.
DTU Data is freely accessible online at data.dtu.dk. Researchers affiliated with DTU may deposit datasets; external users may search, discover, and — where licensing permits — download datasets. DTU Library provides a three-person research data management team to support depositors, run outreach activities, and assist with data management planning in alignment with DTU's Research Data Management Policy. DTU Data is listed in re3data.org, the global registry of research data repositories.
