Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India (print/digital)
Dinamalar is a Tamil-language daily newspaper published across multiple cities in Tamil Nadu, India, among the state's most widely circulated Tamil dailies.
The paper was founded on September 6, 1951, by T.V. Ramasubbaiyer in Thiruvananthapuram (then in Travancore state), originally to advocate for the merger of the Tamil-speaking region around Kanyakumari with Madras Presidency. Operations moved to Tirunelveli in 1957. Ramasubbaiyer subsequently launched editions in Trichy (1966), Chennai (1979), Madurai (1980), Erode (1984), Puducherry (1991), Coimbatore (1992), Vellore (1993), Nagercoil (1996), and Salem (2000). After Ramasubbaiyer's death in 1984, his son Lakshmipathy took over the newspaper.
Dinamalar publishes from 10 printing centers across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, with weekly supplements including Varamalar and the youth-oriented Siruvar Malar, along with an e-paper edition with more than 2 million subscribers as of 2022.
The paper is available through print circulation and online, including a subscription e-paper edition.
