The Digital News Innovation Fund (DNI Fund), established by Google in 2015, is part of the Google Digital News Initiative, which funds various European projects to nurture growth and sustainability in a time of digital news reporting.
A Google council oversees the whole process. A project team (a combination of European news industry experts and Google employees) reviews DNI Fund applications. The project team interviews applicants, the council votes on large projects.
